The Farmers Bank of Osborne Challenges Other Businesses to Support the Osborne County Memorial Hospital

Tax Credit

The Farmers Bank of Osborne presented the Osborne County Memorial Hospital with a $20,000 charitable contribution on October 17, 2016. This check was presented by Steve & Cheryl Bihlmaier, Don Koops, and Janel Burch which was received on behalf of the hospital by Marianna Harris, Hospital Administrator. Also present were Paul Gregory, Curt Colson, Greg Mick and John Anderson. (Stephanie Baxa, Photographer). This contribution will help fund the hospital improvement project that is currently underway.

The donation was made possible in part by the Kansas Department of Commerce Community Service Tax Credits. Participants in this program receive a Kansas tax credit for 70% of the contribution on their state tax return which is refundable if the credit exceeds their tax liability. Businesses and individuals (that itemize) are also able to deduct the entire charitable contribution amount on their federal tax return. Janel Burch of The Farmers Bank stated, “After the tax credit and the deduction the actual cost of the contribution to the bank will be minimal. However, of more importance and emphasis is that the hospital is a vital part of our local community and we are proud to be a supporter of it through this program.”

Osborne County has many generous businesses that have served our communities over the years. The Farmers Bank and the Osborne County Memorial Hospital encourage these businesses to step up and support the hospital improvement project through this tax credit program. Every business and individual should consult their tax professional concerning exactly how it will benefit them. The last day to receive a Kansas Tax Credit through the Osborne County Memorial Hospital is December 31, 2016.

“Osborne County Memorial Hospital is very grateful for The Farmers Banks’ constant support and for this generous charitable contribution” says Sarah LaRosh of OCMH. The Farmers Bank of Osborne is locally owned and has been a community bank since 1901. The bank has a history of community support and excellence for the economic health and livelihood of the area. They have received the five-star “superior” rating from BauerFinancial Inc., an independent bank research firm of Coral Gables, Florida, since December 2010.
